Twitter is changing profile pages to mimic the other guys

bigstock-Under-Construction-424086So you thought keeping up with all the changes for your cover images on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Google+ was exhausting? I know we do.

According to Mashable’s Samantha Kelly, Twitter is now in limited beta testing on a new profile design that looks very much like the current Facebook timeline and Google+ layouts.

The design of your Tweet stream is now, like the other social networks, going to become a lot more visually-oriented and dependent on photos and thumbnails pulled in from Twitter cards. I’ll pause now so that the wordsmiths among us, including myself, can share a collective groan. The world is becoming a giant collection of pictograms instead of a library. We have to deal with it.

The bio appears on the left, but it is unclear yet whether Twitter will eventually give us enough characters to actually say something of substance rather than a few pithy phrases, a la Google+.

The header image is changing from 1252 x 628 pixels to 1500 x 500 pixels – meaning you’ll need to make some adjustments to that image so it doesn’t look stretched on the new design.

This is making me crazy. What do I do?

We’re right here with you in the crazy. Since it’s kind of our job to keep up with all these changes while it’s kind of your job to do whatever it is you do, we stay on top of the new requirements.

In addition to website design and print design, we also handle social media profile branding to match those websites – and we give discounts for multiple profiles. It’s super affordable for clients who already have a look established elsewhere, by us or by others.

Reach out to me to find out how we can help you keep the look and feel of your social media profiles current.
