The folks over at StudioPress have been very busy creating mobile responsive child themes for the Genesis Framework – it seems like they release a new one every week!
What “mobile responsive design” means is that the site will sense the size of the device being used – whether it’s a large monitor, an iPad or other tablet device, Android phone, iPhone, etc. and automatically rearrange its elements to best suit that device. Before now, creating a website that looked as good on a smartphone as it did on a desktop required expensive dual development or the extensive use of plugins.
The movement toward mobile responsive design – while it requires a learning curve and advance planning from those of us who create the sites – simplifies matters for you, the website owner, considerably.
Themes included in the StudioPress Pro Plus Package
Eleven40 Theme:
“Designed to wow your audience at first glance, the eleven40 theme gives you unprecedented spaciousness to show off your best content.”
Focus Theme:
“The Focus Theme was built to bring your words, pictures and videos into sharp relief. It’s a clean and powerful theme with one critical objective: concentrating your priceless reader’s attention.”
Mocha Theme:
“Mocha’s sophisticated design, upscale color scheme, and uncluttered layout always deliver a delicious experience for your audience.”
Agency Theme:
A favorite with Realtors: “First impressions are everything, and Agency’s smart look and ease-of use will take your client and customer connections to the next level. Let Agency be the face of your Agency.”
Mindstream Theme:
“With 9 unique post formats, from “asides” to “videos” and everything between, you can easily display your most inspired content with the mobile responsive, tumblelog layout of Mindstream.”
Balance Theme:
“Balance automatically adjusts to fit any mobile device and provides intelligent layouts that emphasize email opt-ins to help grow your business or brand. Turns out your website can have it all.”

Generate Theme:
“The Generate theme aims all the power and flexibility of Genesis at your most important asset. It’s designed to elegantly lead your site traffic to one action – join the email list.”
Streamline Theme:
“Streamline throws light on your work, letting you get back to what’s important. Focus on the things that really matter.”
Prose Theme
This one might look hopelessly plain, but that’s because it’s designed to be your blank canvas. “The Prose theme for WordPress is the premier online publisher’s website solution. Its point-and-click design controls allow you to effortlessly change almost any aspect of your site without touching a single line of code.”
StudioPress Community Themes
There are also several great themes for Genesis developed by the community, including the one below by Bill Erickson (one of my personal favorites). While it’s not included in the Pro Package, it’s just $24.95 added onto the cost of a basic Genesis license, just like all of the other themes above if purchased separately.
Driskill Theme:
“Beyond looking great, Driskill’s design scales across all viewing platforms, from mobile to desktop, without any additional work. Give Driskill’s responsive design a try: resize the browser and see how the design adjusts.”
